NORBERT SHIEH (謝明洋) is a Taiwanese-American filmmaker exploring the subtleties of the everyday. Based in Los Angeles, his films and collaborations as a cinematographer have screened internationally in numerous festivals and venues, including Sundance, Slamdance, AFI, Ann Arbor, Jihlava International, LA Asian Pacific Film Festival, CAAMFest, LACMA, REDCAT, Anthology Film Archives and Paris’ Centre Pompidou.
Shieh is the recipient of a Creative Capital Film/Video grant for his hybrid documentary PRESERVES, and is a fellow in the Visual Communications's Armed With a Camera program. He holds both a BA in Visual Arts from the University of California, San Diego and a MFA in Film/Video from the California Institute of Arts.
